Bucket List Checkin

Written By: Pam - Apr• 07•14

I don’t think I have shared my Fifty for Fifty list here – what it really a year long mini bucket list.   I’ll share part of it, I’m sure you don’t want to read all of it.

Things have been a little wacky lately and I realized I had gotten a little off track from the list.  I took some time tonight to read through it and take stock of what has been accomplished, sort of like a quarterly report.  I’ve done fairly well but it can be hard to keep the momentum going for an entire year.  It takes work and focus.

  1. Read self help or empowerment book once a month (done!  Just started my fourth one)
  2. Do more good deeds  (hmm….does giving away cupcakes count?)
  3. Pick something from bucket list and plan to do it  (might take guitar lessons later on this year)
  4. Write  (working on this, too, have actually been jotting down notes and thoughts for a book)
  5. Keep running (yup, every weekend)
  6. Lose 15 pounds and keep it off / lose a dress or pants size (not so much, though I have been trying.  meh, not th end of the world)
  7. Go someplace new  (done!  Ravine Gardens State Park and Seminole State Forest)
  8. Make meditation a practice (still working on this)
  9. Try tai chi  (tried it but it didn’t do much for me)
  10. Read more of the greatest novels (working my way through Amazon’s list of 100 books to read)
  11. Do something FUN more often (still working on this, too, though I did go on the Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour with my sister in law last weekend, just because)
  12. Pay off more debt (working on this, too, though the world is conspiring against me)
  13. Take a pottery or craft class (need to find one)
  14. Read a positive quote every day  (done!)
  15. Start a gratitude or happiness journal (jar of happiness)  (not done, I keep forgetting!)
  16. Make an effort to learn something new (education or hobby) (hmmmmm)
  17. Run a 5K  (done!  Signed up to run one on April 26!)
  18. Continue to de-clutter and reorganize house  (working on it)
  19. Yosemite  (YES!  Leave on May 31)
  20. Watch sun set over Pacific Ocean (YES!  Will try to fit this in on the CA trip)
  21. Send random greeting cards  (forgot this one, too, need to work on it)
  22. Soak in a hot tub  (On the agenda for CA)
  23. Stay in a nice hotel / pamper  (If not in CA, then will plan this later on this year)
  24. Take a wine class  (not yet, will have to figure it out)
  25. Practice random acts of kindness  (I try to be reasonably kind to others every day)
  26. Do something self indulgent  (does eating gelato count?  It was sooo good!)
  27. Try new recipe at least once a month  (Done! more or less if I include cupcake recipes!)
  28. Remove as many toxic people as possible from your life (Might work on this shortly…stay tuned)
  29. Splurge on a piece of jewelry (done!  The Pandora necklace was a splurge)
  30. Write 10 ways your life will be better because of your efforts (I have 8 things on the list)
  31. Overcome at least one fear (I did sorta by telling a couple of people how I felt about them.  My fear was that they would freak out.  They didn’t)
  32. Be kind to yourself and reflect on your positive qualities (This can still be a struggle for me, though I am working on it every day)
  33. Revise resume (This is kinda funny – I forgot it was on the list and just this past Friday decided it was something I had to do)
  34. Buy fresh flowers from time to time (still need to do this)
  35. House repairs  (done!  had the garage door fixed and the broken window fixed.  New window blinds were installed last week.  Still lots more to do, though)
  36. Don’t stress if you don’t do everything on the list 🙂

There ya go – how much has been accomplished on 36 of the 50 things on the list.  Not bad for four months but there are still lots of things to do in the coming months.  This has turned out to be such an awesome way to stay focused on what it is important that I might do it again next year.  Well, depending how the next 8 months go, that is.

Way to go! If you need to give more cupcakes away… you know I’m always looking for something yummy. Keep it up… I think you’ll get there!
